Lala is a Town Committee in district of Hailakandi, Assam. The Lala Town is divided into 10 wards for which elections are held every 5 years for ward commissioner. The Lala Town Committee has population of 11,771 of which 5,827 are males while 5,944 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.

Dispur (guwahati) is the state head quarter of the Town and is 382 km far from here. Yearly average rainfall of the city is 2465 mm. Maximum temperature here reaches up to 35°C and minimum temperature goes down to 8°C.

Hindus contribute 91% of the total population and are the largest religious
community in the city followed by Muslims which contribute 7% of the total
population and Jains are the third largest religious community here with 2%
population.. Female Sex ratio per 1000 male in Hindus are 1038 in Muslims are
831 and in Jains are 946.

Population of the Town has increased by 14.6% in last 10 years. In 2001 census
total population here were about 10 thousand. Female population growth rate of
the city is 17% which is 4.7% higher than male population growth rate of 12.3%.
General caste population has increased by 14.6%; Schedule caste population has
increased by 13.7%; Schedule Tribe population has increased by 316.7% and child
population has decreased by -5.1% in the city since last census.

general caste is 1026, in schedule caste is 995 and in schedule tribe is 667.

city. Overall sex ratio in the city has increased by 40 females per 1000 male
during the years from 2001 to 2011. Child sex ratio here has increased by 14
girls per 1000 boys during the same time.
